Introduction to PaperCut - Print and Copy Management
Summary: PaperCut is the software that runs the print and copy management on each Dream City Christian printer and copy. Every time you print or copy, you'll be interacting with PaperCut, so it's important to have a basic understanding of how it works.

The PaperCut desktop widget should automatically launch when you log in to a Dream City Christian Windows computer.
The desktop widget will give you at-a-glance information about your PaperCut balance, as well as allow you to quickly open the PaperCut Web Portal
2.0 ... Opening the PaperCut Widget
If you do not see your PaperCut widget, it may have been closed and minimized to the quick access toolbar.
In the toolbar, click the triangle next to the clock, then double click the PaperCut icon to open the PaperCut widget.
3.0 ... Restarting the PaperCut Widget
If the PaperCut widget is not on your desktop or the quick access toolbar, you may need to restart the PaperCut program.
Please note that printing will not be interrupted if you do not see your PaperCut widget, unless you are needing to switch charge accounts, however you will not see your balance or be alerted to problems with your account.
To restart PaperCut you may either:
- Double-click the "PaperCut Client" shortcut on your desktop
- Restart your computer
If you just need to check your balance, you may use the Web Portal (see below)
Web Portal
1.0 ... Log in to the Web Portal
To connect to the PaperCut web portal, you must be connected to the school network.
Then, in your web browser, go to http://papercut.ad.dreamcityschools.org:9191 or click the "Details..." button on the PaperCut widget.
To sign in, use your school username (You may leave off the "@dreamcityschools.org" piece of your username) and your school password
2.0 ... Summary Page
On the summary page, which is the first page you will see when logging in to the Web Portal, you will quickly be able to see:
- Your copier PIN number
- Your current balance
- Your total print jobs
- Your total pages printed
- Your balance history for the last month
- The environmental impact of all your print and copy activity
3 ... Printing Rates
The Rates tab on the lefthand toolbar will show you exactly how much you've been charged for your previous print jobs.
Paper. Ink. Energy. It all costs money.
4.0 ... Recent Print Jobs
Want to see your Recent Print Jobs? Click the Recent Print Jobs tab on the lefthand toolbar.
Here you can find useful information such as cost, time, printer, and status.
You can also request a refund for a Recent Print Job on this page if the print job didn't print properly.
Can't find what you just printed? Check the Recent Print Jobs tab and check the printer you sent the Print Job to.
5.0 ... Jobs Pending Release
Want to find Jobs Pending Release? Click the Jobs Pending Release tab on the lefthand toolbar. Here you can either release all or cancel all print jobs that are pending.
This is useful if you want to cancel a print job if you no longer want to proceed with printing it.
Release means that you are approving the print job. It's essentially the same as using your Card/ID pin number.
6.0 ... Web Print
You can use the Web Print function to submit a document (.docx, .pptx, .xlsx, .jpg, .png, .pdf) directly to a printer without having to open a program and then print.
Mobility Print
1.0 ... Installation
PaperCut Mobility Print lets you print from mobile devices, such as phones, tablets, and Chromebooks. These devices must first be connected to the school wifi.
From the device, go to http://papercut.ad.dreamcityschools.org:9163/setup
You will be presented with setup instructions for your specific device.
